Meet your host, Kaitlin, and hear about her mindfulness story…
Mindfulness changed my life. In ways I had hoped for, and ways I never anticipated. This is why I bring mindfulness to my clients: I believe in it.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is traditionally an 8-week course that guides a group of curious individuals through incorporating mindfulness practices into their daily life. This curriculum was originally developed by John Kabat-Zinn, an internationally recognized leader in mindfulness and mental health. I completed my training in MBSR at the Mindful Academy in Valencia, Spain and since then have adapted the traditional group curriculum to a 1:1 format. This allows me to intimately guide you through mindfulness practices and strategies for leading a calmer, less reactive life.
Have you noticed that when you are anxious, depressed, scared, etc.. your mind is everywhere except the present moment? Through developing a capacity to be still, tune into our body and environment, we empower ourselves to no longer be victim to our thoughts.
It’s incredible, I promise you! And, it’s challenging.
Learning how to develop a mindfulness practice is critical. This is why I will refer to this modality of therapy as “skills-training”. Together, we will review practices and strategies for adopting a more mindful approach to every day life. Specific strategies include skills for managing stress in the moment, slowing down racing thoughts, and reducing tension/discomfort in the body.

According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, one of the leaders in bringing mindfulness to the world of mental health, mindfulness means: “Paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment; And non-judgmentally.”
-
Mindfulness-based interventions have become more and more present in mental health settings. Why? Because the benefits of mindfulness practices are effective, accessible, and simple complements to traditional mental health treatment and are continuously proven to enhance treatment outcomes.
-
Mindfulness has been proven to:
1. Reduce Rumination
2. Reduce Stress & Anxiety
3. Boost Working Memory
4. Improve Focus
5. Decrease Emotional Reactivity
6. Enhance Cognitive Flexibility
7. Improve Relationship Satisfaction
